Todd Connor reveals the shocking truth of his childhood — a story he has held private until now.

Mr. Connor is an entrepreneur, pastor and spiritual apologist. He still lives in the San Francisco Bay Area where he grew up and where this story takes place. He has two grown children and a beautiful, loving wife. He is involved in several non-profits focused on the reconciliation of Blacks and whites in Oakland, CA., and its surrounding neighborhoods. He is also a regular speaker at churches, recovery programs, student groups, and other organizations concerned with healing from racism, trauma, or spiritual wounding.

“For years, I have tried to describe what it was like to be the victim of child abuse." Connor said. "Even more complicated was explaining the deep love I experienced from the most implausible source — the poor, heavyset Black woman my parents hired as their maid. She fought money, power, and racism to save my life at a time when being Black in America meant no voice, no power, and no hope of justice. I want to tell the world about Liz.”

More recently, Mr. Connor has added to his speaking topics the subject of spiritual healing. “I grew up in an atheist home. Add the violent trauma I suffered as a child and you have a great formula to hate God. I still think like an atheist, but through the challenging, the questioning, and the doubting of an atheist, I have become convinced from the evidence that Jesus is who He said He is – The Son of God.”
